What We Do

Bare Electrolysis provides our clients with the best experience possible. Walking into our office, you will be treated with compassion and care, and leave feeling confident about the choice you made.  We provide a clean, spa like environment, with sterile supplies for each client.

We use the Apilus Senior 3G, the quickest, most powerful and most comfortable 13.56MGHz technology on the market with more than 10 treatment modalities. At Bare Electrolysis, we will tailor a specific treatment plan for your specific needs.  We promise to do our best to help you achieve your hair removal goals!

Galvanic, Thermolysis, or Blend

Electrolysis destroys the hair growth cells with chemical or heat energy. All modalities destroy hair growth cells. The modality used will depend on the type of hair being treated and personal preference of the electrologist.
There are three modalities used in electrolysis today:

Galvanic or electrolysis – This modality has been around for 150 years; first used in 1875, and is still widely used today. This type of electrolysis induces a chemical reaction in the hair follicle dissolving the hair papilla and germ cells. Moisture and salt content found inside the hair follicle reacts with the probe, producing sodium hydroxide, also known as lye. The lye fills up the follicle space and destroys the hair root cells by chemical decomposition. This method is widely used in the multiple needle galvanic electrolysis (using up to 16 needles simultaneously).  Galvanic lye is essential to removing difficult, deep rooted, curved or distorted follicles.  The lye fills up the space of the follicle, essentially dissolving the root.  This method can take from 5-20 seconds per hair. However, it is a very effective method to permanent destruction of all germinative cells.

Thermolysis or short-wave – First established in 1923, thermolysis is one of the newest modalities to offer the quickest ways of permanently removing unwanted hair.  Heat is the main source of follicle destruction. Hairs can be treated within a fraction of a second.  Radio frequency or short-wave energy produce vibrations inside the hair follicle, stimulating water molecules and causing them to heat up.  The vibration causes the water molecules to boil and turn into a thick mass, releasing the hair follicle. Thermolysis is also an effective modality to use on fine vellus hairs, or peach fuzz. However, it is generally not as effective as galvanic or blend.

The blend –   The Blend is the newest of the three modalities and uses chemical decomposition and heat to destroy the hair follicle.  The heat of the radio frequency causes the lye to heat up, making it more caustic. The blend method is not as quick as thermolysis, but it is still faster than galvanic method.  The blend is great when used on difficult, deep or curved follicles.

Cataphoresis –By reversing the machines polarity, applying this modality to the treated site can help reduce temporary side effects of galvanic or blend.  Cataphoresis can help reduce redness and swelling after electrolysis. However, there is no clinical data supporting this claim.

I was nervous at first, however everyone at Bare Electrolysis made me feel very welcome and comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to be hair free.

I was embarrassed about my peach fuzz on my upper lip and cheeks. However, being a blond I could not do laser. Electrolysis is the only way and much less painful!
